The Dwight-Derby House Gives Thanks!

Tom DupreyOn Thursday, November 13th, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm the Friends of the Dwight-Derby House will host their “Giving Thanks” concert featuring Tom Duprey, Medfield’s very own stellar trumpet performer, and David Hawthorne of Cambridge. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Medfield Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Tickets for this fun and intimate evening of jazz and feast are $25 per person and will be sold at the door. Ticket price includes everything but the kitchen sink—beer and wine tasting provided by Larkin’s Liquors, an amazing feast furnished by Basil Restaurant and razor-sharp and energetic trumpet and jazz guitar by the innovative and talented Duprey and Hawthorne, who are core members of James Merenda’s Tickle  Juice, who’s first CD was released this last summer. The two frequently collaborate, but are accomplished musicians in their own right.

Duprey has performed for Dionne Warwick, Johnny Mathis, Robert Goulet, Tommy Tune, Herb Reed and The Platters, as well as various other artists. Since 1982 he has performed in a variety of musical theatre productions in regional, college and downtown Boston theatres as well as in regional orchestras, jazz, R&B, solo, chamber and other freelance gigs. As an educator, he teaches trumpet at his private studio and is band director for Dover-Sherborn middle school and has been an elementary brass instructor for Medfield Public Schools.

Hawthorne has performed over the years in Boston, New York, Munich, Flagstaff, and many other cities and locales. He has led and participated in many clinics, and his compositions include works for orchestra, string quartet, jazz big band, and his own small bands.

The feast will include Caesar Salad, Chicken Marsala, Eggplant Parmesan, Pasta Primavera and Rice Pilaf. Please join us for a fun filled evening of music, laughter and giving thanks! The Dwight-Derby Shoppe will be open for your shopping convenience. All new Medfield items are available for purchase for your holiday gift giving.

Proceeds from this event will help raise much needed funds for the ongoing maintenance, restoration, preservation and operations of this historic jewel of Medfield.
